Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?Ībsolutely not! I can certainly see why a lot of people simply choose to not start a business at all. Since then, I have helped over 40 families, with about 7 million in volume, and continuing to go strong. I figured I’m either going to sink or swim. One thing they don’t tell you about being a real estate agent, all those classes and exams don’t really teach you how to run your business and a real estate agent. Once I got my license, I was so excited but I had no idea what to do. I was fortunate enough to pass all my exams the first time. So when the time came, I already had key players in place to help me get the job done. I was putting teams together for each kind of client that I may run into and help. While I was in the process of getting my license, I was setting up all my platforms, reaching out, and making connections with lenders, attorneys, and contractors. ![]() I jumped in and started my training during my off hours from my Coast Guard duty.įor about 3 or 4 months, I was either at the station or studying in class. I immediately started working on my license when I got settled in here at the Coast Guard Station. With a few years left on my Coast Guard contract, I figured I would at least get a head start or some kind of ball rolling. So it was time to put a plan together and execute it. It is almost impossible to maintain any kind of relationship with only 21 days out of 365. The judge said I can apply for more time once I’m out of active duty. When the divorce was finalized, I was only granted three weeks out of the entire year to spend time with my daughter. Unfortunately, I ended up going through a divorce and having to fight to stay in my daughter’s life. However, I already have 14 years in the military and I figured I would start that once I retired. ![]() Regardless of what my mind drifted to, I always found myself coming back to real estate. I thought about running my own restaurant or high-class bar. But for the longest time, I’ve always wanted to work for myself, running a business how I see fit.
